That time I almost forgot to blog

Oh my gosh, I'm literally just now remembering that I have a blog that I write a post in every day. Shame on me. I'm trying to put the finishing touches on my lesson for tomorrow and was lost in working on that. Whoops.

The lesson is on scripture study, why it is so important, how to create proper scripture study patterns in your life, and how the scriptures can bless your life. It's one of those lessons that makes you feel really guilty as you read it because you are just not as good at the lesson is saying you should [be trying to] be. I guess that's why we keep going to church, so we don't get too comfortable thinking that we're doing awesome and forget how much progress still needs to be made.

I've been thinking as I've been preparing this lesson how important our own humility is if we are really trying to magnify our scripture study. President Hunter challenges us to read, ponder, and pray over the scriptures daily. If you are going to be praying and pondering, daily, that means that you have to be ready for the Lord to instruct you daily. That means you have to be open to change and teaching, daily. I can tell when my spirit is in a more receptive state, because I get so much more out of my scripture study.

It's really quite a blessing that our Heavenly Father doesn't just dump every ounce of truth on us, that He wants us to be looking for it. Because only if you're really looking for it, will it be able to take hold upon your heart.
