Today I lasted about negative two minutes in Relief Society. Yes, negative two minutes. That means I sat down as people were still coming in before class had started, and Carolyn wasn't having any of it. She needed a nap big time, and getting a nap in at church is tough these days.
I headed to the mother's room in hopes of nursing her to sleep, and about five minutes later another mom with a boy a couple months older than Carolyn came in, also trying to get him to sleep. As it turns out, them both being in there just made them want to be awake even more, so we let them play on the floor together and they did pretty well. Then a third mom came in with her girl who is about six months older than Carolyn. Same thing.
We ended up having our own little mini Relief Society (we just chit chatted if we're being honest), but it was so fun. The kids were fairly whiney but they did better than they would have on our laps in class.
And you want to know the best part? Because she hadn't napped yet, Carolyn and Peter
both went down for naps when we got home, and that's when you do the
Double Whammy Dance.
