Drumroll please... how did swimming go?

I liked swimming! I was expecting to hate it, at least a little bit, and I didn't even hate it at all! I was more focused on getting the hang of swimming than pushing myself very hard, but I worked hard enough to feel some soreness today. That's always nice, to know you worked hard enough to be sore. (Good sore, not broken knees sore. They still hurt by the way. Any thoughts out there on if that's normal or I should be doing something different?) Swimming was neat because just being in a pool made it feel like playtime, and it was so nice not to have any impact on my body. My workout buddy and I are going to start working out together every day (instead of just MWF), because she is training for a triathlon, so we'll head to the gym together and do whatever will work with my knees for now. Bonus points for it helping me to more fully embrace that whole "early to bed, early to rise" schtick.

I hit another small and simple milestone yesterday. Around the same time that I started this blog, I had set another goal to not just do daily scripture study, but to record notes and impressions as I was reading. Yesterday I filled up my first little notebook of notes, and today I started a fresh one. I have been amazed at how much more I am getting out of scripture study now. Sometimes it feels like I am reading things for the first time. I am remembering names and places and chains of events much better, and I am able to reference things I read as I having gospel discussions. For the first time in my life I feel like I can actually use the scriptures to teach and understand principles. It's been really neat. It was a recommendation that I had heard a while back, and finally decided to try. I give it two thumbs up.

Hurray for bite size goals! Little bits of good things on a regular basis. Whether it be swimming, or scripture study.
