Somehow this morning, I started singing "Let It Go". I don't know why, but it happened, and Peter thought it was great fun dancing around while I sang. It was so fun that I found some more Disney songs on youtube and we danced around for a big chunk of the morning while Carolyn napped.
A little while later during snack time, I caught Peter trying to sing it himself. I've never heard him sing anything close to the actual tune of a song before, so this was extra cute.
[The first half of] today was one of those days when Peter felt more like a friend I was hanging out, with than a child I was having to care for.
We recently brought our garbage can down off the counter where it has been since Peter could stand, and put it back on the ground. We figured that Peter minds well enough now that it won't be an issue, and it has been SO NICE!
Now I don't have to get up to throw anything away, Peter is all over it for me. I'm getting that first taste of having your children do all the running around the house for you. This is him scurrying to throw away a dirty diaper for me (it's tied in a produce bag, that's how we keep them from stinking up the house).
What a good boy.
Carolyn on the other hand, she was a booger today. Or as Peter would say, "boo-der". I've concluded that she is either teething AGAIN, or has an ear infection. She has all eight of the frontmost teeth now, so it's just the canines and the one year molars to go. She will be eight months old next week, so I have my doubts about teething, but then again she did just get six teeth all at once, so she's clearly not your average teether. She seems to be fussiest in the days preceding the tooth actually being visible, so I haven't been able to spot anything yet.
The reason I think maybe ear infection is because she's been batting at her ears quite a bit for the last 24 hours or so, and today she had a very slight fever (99.3), which could also be from teething.
Although she was pretty cranky with me today, she was not cranky with Daddy. She loves playing with Daddy.
She's finally down for the night and I'm hoping that she's not as hard for me tonight as she was during the day. Do any of you have magic techniques for telling the difference between an ear infection or teething?
